The Chef! Drew grew up in Great Shelford, Cambridge. He studied boat design in Falmouth with the aim of having a floating restaurant in the Mediterranean. After deciding he wanted to train as a qualified chef he contacted The Pink Geranium Restaurant in Melbourn, which was at the time a Michelin acknowledged venue. Drew then started an apprenticeship which would give him a solid base in Classic French European culinary techniques, flavours & styles. Since then Drew has been steadily broadening his knowledge by travelling and working across Europe, finally gaining a more modern viewpoint of cuisine by working for a year in Sydney, Australia and experimenting with pacific rim, fusion style cuisine. Shelford Delicatessen opened in 1999 when Drew & Nikki returned home from Australia. Since then it has gone from strength to strength with the focus always on Drew's fantastic cuisine which is all prepared in a tiny kitchen at the back of the delicatessen! |

The Boss! Nikki grew up in Harston, Cambridge and studied Sculpture in Sheffield, however, after completing her degree, she decided to take a TEFL course in order to travel. She spent a year in Japan teaching all ages, and travelled in Asia before returning home. Next came Sydney, Australia where she taught English to mainly Asian students in a Language School at the foot of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. After returning home to England, Nikki & Drew set upon starting an outside catering company using Drew's professional knowledge and Nikki's organisational skills, combined with a shared love of food. Soon they expanded and Shelford Delicatessen was born allowing Drew's high quality cuisine a venue, and the beginning of a long journey into food... |
