Grissini breadsticks are the classic appetiser from Piemonte, in northern Italy, where the recipe was invented three centuries ago. These are hand made by a family bakery, which has been producing grissini since 1945 using simple, quality ingredients. By following traditional production principles instead of modern industrial methods, they continue to make genuine artisan grissini. The recipe uses locally milled, wholemeal flour, quality extra virgin olive oil, yeast and water to make the basic dough. Strips of dough are individually hand rolled and pulled into the characteristic grissini shape before baking.
